WKA Success at the Tobi Ishi WADO British Championships
The Welsh Karate Association took a squad of 14 to compete in the Tobi Ishi Wado British Championships on 13th January 2013 in Worcester.
Kata
The first WKA competitors to start kata in the 10-11 age category were Shauna Hayden and Josh Davies. It was a very big category and both competitors showed great skill. Unfortunately they drew each other in the semi-finals. Shauna took the match, winning her way through to the final. Josh won a bronze medal and Shauna then went on to win the Gold.

Kumite
First to start in kumite was the youngest member of the squad 9 year old Morgan Harvey. Another large category which saw Morgan going 7-0 down in the semi-finals and making an amazing comeback to win 12-11. He then had a comfortable win in the final to win the Gold medal.

Josh Davies was next up securing a Silver medal in the 10-11 boys.
Shauna Hayden added a kumite Bronze medal to her Kata gold in the 10-11 Year old girls.
Shaun Foyle won a very creditable Bronze medal in the 16-17 years old boys category.
Sophie Foyle won a Bronze medal in the 16-17 years old girls.
It was then the Senior members of the squads turn, starting with Katie Bernard who won a Bronze medal in the Senior ladies openweight.
The Senior men's was a large category therefore they divided into two groups A and B.
In group A Luke Howard won the Gold medal and Robert Hares won a Bronze medal.
In group B Yusef Ali secured a Silver medal.
The last medals of the day went to the senior men's team who won Gold against teams from Scotland and England. The men's team consisted of Luke Howard, Yuesf Ali, Faizan Khan and Robert Hares.
The final tally of medals was 4 Golds, 2 silvers and 7 bronzes.
