Karate Wales Youth Open 2018

A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE RULES USED AT THE KARATE WALES YOUTH OPEN IN MERTHYR ON SUNDAY.

 

All Kata categories will be run over two rounds with the top six in the ‘first’ round progressing to the final round.

 

All ‘Novice Kata’ categories will be Heian/Pinan only, kata May be repeated in the final.

 

All ‘Advanced Kata’ categories will be any Kata, but a different kata must be performed in the final.

 

In the three ‘Style’ categories for 8-15 year olds (Shotokan, Wado & Other Styles) any Kata from that style can be performed and may be repeated in the final.

 

In the ‘Open Grade' categories (4-7 years, 14-15 years, 16-17 years) any Kata can be performed and may be repeated in the final

 

Kumite will he run under WUKF rules (which can be viewed on the WUKF website) there are new rules in place and these can also be viewed on the website.

 

Team Kumite for 10-11 years will be Nihon Kumite.

 

Team Kumite for 12-13 years will be Sanbon Kumite.

 

Team Kumite for 14-15 years & 16-17 years will be Sanbon Rotation.
